My relationship with Elder Advocates lasted for about 2 1/2 years until my sister’s passing. It seemed to evolve into more of a family relationship as I got to know her care manager. Her care manager made all her appointments, called to remind her, and met the doctors. We received emails detailing what went on at the doctor’s appointment including test results. The care manager provided me with a much more complete assessment than I would have been able to obtain myself. I truly believe that guidance and involvement by Elder Advocates eased a lot of the burden on us and saved us a number of trips to Orlando.

Since both my brother and I live out-of-town, we originally hired Elder Advocates to help us monitor our parents health and their health care on a more frequent basis, even though they live in a life-care facility. There was the immediate benefit of our EA care manager accompanying them to doctor’s visits to interface with the medical professionals, help our folks understand the doctor’s recommendations, and keep us informed. However, the greater advantage was the integrated overview of their health care that our EA representative brought into our lives. They identified a lack of treatment and medication coordination between physicians, and implemented procedures that have greatly improved the quality of the life for both our parents.
